Some of the most important things I've learned throughout high school, I didn't learn in a classroom .I had to learn them on my own. Responsibility was one of these unspoken lessons. As a student, I have a responsibility to do my work consistently and to the best of my ability. In my freshman and sophomore years, I had no problem s keeping up with all my school work. Come Junior, the pressure of school and life became to much and I began to slack of on my responsibilities in school. I needed a change of pace in my life so the summer before senior year I was hired at Dan's fresh Produce. Having a new responsibility revived my motivation excel at work. When school started again I had regained the confidence of knowing I could accomplish something If I put my mind to it. Now as senior in my second semester, I juggle work, school ,and my college class, and its more important than ever that I keep in mind what my responsibilities are. I plan to replicate these skills in college and later on in life.
I learned a lot inside the classroom as well. As a senior I've been taught the scholastic New Basics for 13 years, but the most important academic lessons were taught to me in high school. In English, I've learned how to develop how I communicate through literature, and understand the message that other authors are trying to convey through their works. I've always liked reading and have always had good ideas in my head, but expressing them fluidly on paper was a challenge for me. Fortunately, Molly walked us through proper transitions and helped me develop techniques for clearly expressing what I was trying to say in my writing. Mathematics has also been a big focus in my high school education, I wanted to go as far as I could academically. This year I'm in Calculus, and it's definitely a challenge. I've learned a lot about advanced math concepts and how they can be applied in the real world. I've also learned in my science classes how scientific principles are present in everyday life. In Chemistry, my favorite class, I learned that every chemical reaction has a mathematical electron order to it in order to make a substance, and which substances can be combined and which cannot. But, the most important classes I've taken were in the social studies field. I've always believed that knowledge of history is a necessity for understanding how the world works, and so that we never repeat our mistakes. I have better understanding of current events and I'm able to form informed political opinions of my own.
My thinking and reasoning skills are most evident in Senior Seminar. We have many important decisions to make concerning funds and plans for graduation. Our whole class uses creative thinking in many aspects of Senior Seminar. For example, we use it for solving problems so we can accommodate everyone. Also, the wole class needs to use our decision making skills so that we can make progress. However, before we make decisions, we usually have a class discussion on the topic first. Through these discussions, we then have all the knowledge we need to make an educated vote The hardest part of Senior Seminar was finding a good system for discussions. At first we switched up who would lead the class each day , but then a few class mates and I realized that this was counter productive because nobody could gain substantial experience, and that we should redo our system. So as a class we decided to assign permanent people to lead discussions. We decided to uses this new system because it works for leadership pretty well. In the end it worked out really well; our class is rambunctious so we needed the structure.
ACLC was the perfect place for my interpersonal skills to thrive and develop. Acting like hes all feminist with her don't be using the word bitch whe she puts down chloe's and Jordan's feminist veiws
